Exhibition Consultants Ltd (ECL) is a management consultancy established in 1974 to provide specialist advice and services for the conventions and business events industry – including specifically the development and management of exhibition and convention centres.
ECL is part of the Angus Montgomery group of worldwide exhibition and event organisers, consultants and venue managers. The Group dates back to 1895 and is active in Europe, Africa and Asia, working independently or with regional partners and associates.

Sandy Angus has worked in the exhibitions industry since joining Montgomery’s South African exhibition operations in 1968, and its London office in 1970. His long career has embraced international show organising, exhibition display contracting, venue management, marketing and senior corporate general management. His network of high-level connections throughout the world of exhibitions, event organising, show venues and host business cities is probably unequalled.
Sandy undertakes strategic consultancy and has provided advice to UN and European Union agencies. He is in demand as a speaker at exhibition industry conventions and seminars. He is an active consulting director of all Montgomery’s operating companies and an active director/consultant with Exhibition Consultants Ltd, recently advising the Oman Ministry of Commerce on exhibition industry issues, in Hong Kong, the West Kowloon Cultural District on the establishment of a cultural exhibitions centre, and in the UK, Wasps Rugby Ltd on the acquisition of the Ricoh Arena exhibition and convention facilities.
He is a frequent traveller to Asia where Montgomery has current projects in India, China and Hong Kong, as well as being very familiar with the African exhibition scene.

Trevor is a mine of invaluable information with an address book that spans the globe. Since 2008, tfconnect has been committed to helping events businesses of all shapes and sizes achieve their goals and rise to the challenges of an ever-changing, global industry.
Trevor has over 20 years experience in exhibitions and conferences, as Group Chief Executive of the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), the Association of Exhibition Venues (AEV) and the Association of Exhibition Contractors (AEC) between 2006-08 and with a track record of launching and growing great events. This includes 10 years of developing and running events for event organisers - a tough crowd to please!
A brief history of Trevor:
John Vimpany joined Montgomery in 1966, becoming Managing Director of Exhibition Consultants Ltd (ECL), in 1976. Under his direction as the company’s principal consultant, ECL’s assignments became diverse and worldwide, embracing feasibility studies for new national exhibition and trade fair venues in Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Lagos Nigeria and Sudan’s Khartoum International Fairgrounds. John has also directed exhibition research and training projects funded by UN and European agencies for emerging countries and many other exhibition-related assignments including responsibility for the operation and marketing of the Liverpool International Garden Festival in 1984 that successfully began the city's regeneration as a tourist, cultural and business destination.
More recently, as ECL’s Director and lead consultant, John led the feasibility study to modernise the Cyprus State Fair and was the ECL lead consultant for an Arts Exhibition Centre study in Hong Kong and an exhibition industry study for the government of Oman. John has been involved with the Malaysia’s vast new Exhibition Centre Project as an industry expert adviser.
